2 day navigation courses in the Peak District
Dolomite Training offers Bronze and Silver National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) courses and includes all the aspects from each syllabus. We cater for groups of 3 - 6 people per instructor as we feel that these ratios provide enough time for everyone to get a personal service and maximise their learning from the course.
Course content includes:
Bronze Level

Orientate the map with and without a compass.

Use linear features (e.g. paths and tracks) as handrails in simple navigation exercises.

Estimate distance on both map and ground.

Using a basic understanding of contours, match major landforms like hills and valleys to their map representation.

Plan a safe, suitable walk.

Relocate using simple techniques on paths and other handrails.
Silver Level

Understand and apply components such as 'aiming off' and 'attack points' and use them in different terrains.

Use a compass to follow bearings and check various features on the map and the ground.

Employ simple relocation strategies when lost.

Judge distance on the map and on the ground accurately.
Costs
Price is per person for the weekend (2 day) course but doesn’t include accommodation. If you need help in finding accomodation please call us and we will do our best to help you.
