Steve

I have been involved in alternative School education, outdoor education and management training since 1995. Ironically one of my first jobs was working in the PE Department of a Secondary School before I joined the Army. After leaving the Forces I gained various outdoor activity leadership qualifications and returned to Higher Education to study management as a mature student. After working in various management and leadership roles I studied for and gained a Masters degree (MBA) in 2008.

This life experience has proved invaluable for me in working with people of all ages and backgrounds. My motivation for setting up this company is that the best part of my job is helping people develop the confidence and skills to be more effective at whatever they choose to do.

Following a brief but successful time in the Army, I left to pursue a career in alternative education. Since 2004 I have worked across the region delivering a wide variety of programmes with outstanding results.  I am passionate about providing new opportunities that can motivate and develop people of all ages and backgrounds.

I am a qualified Mountain Bike Leader Trainer, a First Aid Trainer and am currently studying towards a Masters Degree in Education.  Working as a partner in Dolomite Training allows me to share my enthusiasm for learning and desire to see others develop on a daily basis.

I made the move from outdoor activities instruction into education about 7 years ago. I have worked with young people on personal development programmes; classroom based courses with accreditation, mixed programmes focused on re-engagement and re-motivation as well as skills based courses for adults and team building / bonding programmes. My interest in leadership and management led me to complete my Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies in 2007. In order to be a more effective classroom practitioner I completed my PGCE in 2009 and am currently working towards a Masters Degree in Education. The combination of work experience and theoretical study has provided a solid foundation to assist me in the development of others.

I love to learn new skills and information, regularly looking for ways to enhance my own knowledge and skill set. I relish challenge whether it is physical through activities and sport or mental through enhancing my own education or creating bespoke development opportunities for customers.  My passion is developing people; to listen and engage with them, provide opportunities for them to succeed and achieve their full potential.

I have been working within the field of alternative education and outdoor activities for a few years now. I love to share my passion for adventure with others and feel that it is a great vehicle for identifying other positive traits such as patience, sound judgement and good all round well being. As an avid climber and caver I can often be found enjoying the outdoors on my days off. I hold a range of outdoor leadership qualifications that allows me to take groups climbing, caving and canoeing.

I have recently completed a PTTLLS course and have been making the transition into classroom based work over the last 18 months. I have found that this complements my current set of skills. My passion for helping others to learn and develop themselves comes from a desire to see everyone meet their potential. I believe everyone has something to contribute and putting them in different and challenging situations can help draw their skills out.
