Looking to get on the rocks and experience outdoor climbing in one of the UK’s most iconic national parks? Whether you’re an absolute beginner, a curious family, or someone with previous experience wanting to refresh their skills, Dolomite Training offers some of the Best Climbing Courses in the Peak District – designed for all ages, abilities, and adventure levels. This isn’t indoor wall climbing – these are real rocks, real ropes, and real rewards!

Climb in the Heart of the Peak District

The Peak District is home to some of the UK’s most celebrated climbing locations. Our climbing sessions take place on both gritstone and limestone rock formations, giving you a rich and varied experience of what outdoor climbing has to offer.

Popular locations we use include:

  • Stanage Edge – The jewel of Peak District climbing. Massive gritstone escarpments with beginner-friendly sections and classic routes for more advanced climbers.
  • Burbage – A picturesque and accessible crag, ideal for learning rope systems and movement techniques.
  • The Roaches – A dramatic and wild-feeling climbing venue with a mix of routes for different skill levels.
  • Harborough Rocks (Carsington area) – A fantastic limestone location with a totally different feel underfoot and handhold, great for contrast and exploration.

Who Are These Courses For?

In short, everyone. Whether you’re:

  • A complete first-timer
  • A parent booking a family adventure day in the Peak District
  • A group of friends trying something new
  • An experienced climber looking for refresher skills or coaching
  • Someone keen to try private outdoor climbing lessons in the Peak District

…we’ve got a course tailored to you.

We also work with

  • School outdoor activity trips in the Peak District
  • Stag and hen adventure weekends
  • Corporate team-building groups
  • Youth organisations and charities

And yes, we run exclusive 1-to-1 climbing coaching sessions for individuals wanting personal attention, technical input, and rock climbing coaching in the Peak District to help them climb smarter, safer, and stronger.

What You’ll Learn on a Climbing Course

Every climbing course begins with a friendly meet-up at a designated point near the crag. We then head out together, gear up, and get straight into learning in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

Topics covered may include:

  • Helmet and harness fitting
  • How to tie in using a figure-8 knot
  • Safe belaying techniques (top and bottom rope)
  • Communication and calls between climber and belayer
  • Climbing movement skills and body positioning
  • Route reading and climbing tactics
  • Environmental awareness and Leave No Trace practices

If you’re returning to climbing or looking to build on existing experience, we also offer progression sessions tailored to specific goals, from refining footwork to building belaying confidence.

Climb Sustainably: Respecting the Rock

At Dolomite Training, we’re passionate not just about climbing, but about protecting the places we climb. That’s why all our sessions follow ‘Leave No Trace principles’, encouraging a respectful, minimal-impact approach to outdoor adventures.

Here’s a few of the principles we follow;

  • Avoid climbing near nesting birds such as the ringed ouzels which are often seen at nesting time
  • Stick to established paths and routes
  • Minimise chalk use and clean up where needed
  • Educate climbers about the delicate flora and fauna found on crags and moorlands

We also teach climbers how to be good stewards of the outdoors, whether it’s how to best to collect litter, tread lightly, or consider seasonal nesting restrictions.
