Weaselling Activities in The Peak District
Weaselling and rock scrambling is open for all age groups and the best place to run this is up on Higgar Tor above Hathersage. Over 1000s of years the gritstone edges have slowly been eroded by wind and rain. In places where sections have fallen over they have created natural tunnels and holes of varying sizes. These form our weasel holes and the challenge is for you to get through them. There are hundreds of options and the level of challenge varies from one hole to the next. No Need to worry though as all of the holes are optional and have an easy way round if you don’t fancy them.
Some people can’t get enough and want to find new holes and challenges for their group. Everyone loves the Derbyshire Grand Canyon although not quite as big as its American namesake.
This is a great activity enjoyed by all groups and also gives you an introduction to a rock environment without the need for harnesses or ropes but we do wear helmets for protection. Weaselling is a great way to break down barriers in any group and develop confidence for a range of people. It can be used as a build up to a climbing or abseiling session. The rock scrambling element can involve rock hopping in an environmental challenge or spotting your friends up rock slabs as part of a circuit.
If this sounds like the sort of thing that your group would enjoy please get in touch. Scouts, Youth groups, Families, Stag and Hens all love this activity. Don’t forget we can combine this with something else to make an action packed day for you. Get in touch to book your private session with this great fun activity.
